These past few days, our social media news feeds have been filed with stressful news including the controversial revocation of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s amnesty, the increasing inflation rate, the upcoming typhoon that is expected to hit the Philippines, the continuous price hike of goods, and more.
This stressful news will somehow leave us wondering if there is still hope for this country to survive, but recently, a Good Samaritan breaks the ice among all the worrying news that is surrounding us and made our faith in humanity restored.
In the post of Facebook user Kyle Mamanses, she narrated how she witnessed this jeepney driver do an act of kindness among his student passengers.
According to Kyle, at least three elementary students hop in the jeepney where she is also riding, when the students gave the driver their fare the driver immediately returned it to them and said: “Baon niyo na lang ‘yan!”

Aside from the three elementary students, Kyle said that during her journey in the jeepney with Calamba to U.P Los Baños route in Laguna, the driver never accepted any fare from young students.
Kyle decided to share the act of kindness she witnessed on social media to spread the good vibes she felt during the jeepney ride.
When the photo and the story of the driver went viral on social media, GMA News immediately looked for the driver and has identified him as Jay-ar Septimo who resides in Los Baños, Laguna.
According to the 26-year-old driver, he has been neglecting to receive payments from students for the past four years now as his way of helping their parents.
“Pinakatulong ko na lang sa mga magulang kasi magkano man lang sir ang baon na ‘yon,” Septimo said in an interview with GMA News.
He added that these Good Samaritan act never hinders him from gaining enough income and boundary from his day-long journey.
“Kahit papaano kumikita rin. Wala naman po ‘yun, ‘di naman malaking kabawasan sa pamamasada yun, kahit mataas ang diesel,” he added.
Septimo explained that this act is even making him happy from the inside. In fact, he is even encouraging the young students to wait for him in the morning so that they do not have to pay for fare on the way to school every day.
“Sinasabi ko sa mga bata, lagi ninyo ako abangan ‘pag kayo’y papasok sa umaga. Kasi umaga ako nadaan diyan, ‘pag nakita ninyo ako, parahin niyo ako agad para libre kayo,” he added.
