Aside from listening to music, browsing on your social media feeds, and taking a nap while stuck in traffic, I’m sure some of you have probably thought of hundred ways to get away from this incurable traffic situation in the Philippines. Some of you have probably dreamed of having their own “flying car” that could take you off the horrible traffic especially in EDSA.
Well, this wild dream of your was turned into reality by a Filipino inventor who is now taking a partnership with a green energy e-vehicle firm to make your escape from traffic possible.
For the past 8 years, Pinoy inventor Kyx Mendiola has been working on his dream flying vehicle that he actually invented out of curiosity.

As a remote-controlled planes enthusiast and hip-hop dancer, Kyx found himself first interested in drone cameras to film his performances.
“When drone technology started coming to the Philippines, I started building drones as a hobby, and for filming,” Mendiola said in an interview with ANC.
“Out of curiosity, I wondered if I could build something that’s big enough to carry me,” he added.
Although Mendiola admitted that he does not have any background in engineering, his enthusiasm with electronics lead him in conceptualizing his ultralight flying vehicle which he dubbed as “Koncepto Millenya”.
He confessed that the past 8 years has been a trial and error phase for him to develop Koncepto Millenya and all the funding for this concept came from his own savings.
“It would burn up, I would buy again,” Mendiola said.
Now the Pinoy inventor has partnered with e-vehicle firm Star 8 International to finally make a commercial version of his invention.
Star 8 CEO and President Jacob Miamon said they will adapt Mendiola’s design to a planned “electrical manned aerial vehicle”(EMAV) which can accommodate two passengers with a combined weight of 200 kilos.
Miamon added that the EMAV will also be capable of flying up to an hour, once it launches in Manila, the EMAV will be called “Future 8”.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that they do not have any regulations on manned vehicles like Mendiola’s invention, but they will look into regulating it and study the regulations made in other countries that develop similar aircraft.
